The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society

New r/c frequencies released by OFTA
Date: 15 August 2004

Dear fellow HKRCSS members,

I have received the confirmation letter from OFTA that they have released more frequencies for remote control modelling. In addition to the 6 channels in 72MHz band released last year, there are 8 new channels in the 35MHz band and 4 new channels in the 40MHz band. In order to use these frequencies, a license from OFTA is required.

HKRCSS strongly encourages its members to use legal frequencies. If you haven't applied for such a license, please do so as soon as possible. HKRCSS will pay for the first-year license fee of $80 for you. Please see detailed information on how to apply for such a license.

Some of you got the OFTA licenses for just over a year now and your licenses have already renewed on 31 July 2004.

Recently I have received the renewal notice of another batch of license which will be expired by 30 August 2004. The list of this batch of  members (total of 11) is follow:

Since the renewal of OFTA license every year individually is quite tedious, we are proposing that the $80 license fee will be incorporated into the membership fee next year so that the club can automatically renew the licenses for you in batch to save time and this will be advantageous for those who are too busy to renew their licenses. We will propose the change in the coming AGM and if the resolution is passed the membership fee will be increased to $230 to cover the license fee cost.

Anyway, for the time being we will proceed to renew OFTA licenses for these 11 members first.

Best regards and happy soaring
