Renewal of OFTA license
Date: 18 July 2004
Dear HKRCSS Members,
Some of you got the OFTA license for
model aircraft flying and 22 of these licenses will be expired by
31 July 2004. I have recently received
the renewal notice of these 22 licenses from OFTA. In order to
speed up the renewal process, HKRCSS has decided to renew the
licenses for these members provided that they have also renewed
their HKRCSS membership (up to date information: 19 out of 22 have
already renewed their HKRCSS membership). The club will pay the
$80 renewal fee for these members first and then later these
members will reimburse the club with this money. The list of these
members concerned is follow:

Since the renewal of OFTA
license every year individually is quite tedious, we are proposing
that the $80 license fee will be incorporated into the membership
fee next year so that the club can automatically renew the
licenses for you in batch to save time and this will be
advantageous for those who are too busy to renew their licenses.
We will propose the change in the coming AGM and if the resolution
is passed the membership fee will be increased to $230 to cover
the license fee cost.
Anyway, for the time being we
will proceed to renew OFTA licenses for these 19 members first.
You probably know that there was
an unfortunate incident last Wednesday. Two r/c pilots flying
their gliders in Fei Ngo Shan were arrested by police at the
request of OFTA staff. They were charged with the use of illegal
frequencies. HKRCSS will try our best to help the two pilots
concerned. We realized that there are severely shortage of legal
r/c channels for flying our models and we will be continuing to
press OFTA to release more r/c bands. In the mean time, we will
encourage our members to use legal frequencies.
For members who haven't applied for the OFTA license, I urge you
to do so. There are more information in our web for applying OFTA
license. Please let me know if I can help.
