Thermal Soaring Group
Thermal soaring is the most interesting kind of soaring
in full size gliders, it is challenging and full of excitements, it can
bring you to the height which you never experienced before. For model
glider pilots, you can also experience the same excitement of the full
size pilot from thermal soaring, you can also fly every kind of
aerobatics figures and very high speed gliding if you know how to deal
with the energy management (changing the potential energy of you glider
from height to speed).
We are a small group of model glider pilots in Hong Kong that had this
exciting experience, we had successful thermal flights with our
competition gliders either they are handlaunch,
electric or on
towed. We hold many DLG contests every year. Hong Kong's territory is
small and does not have big flying fields suitable holding thermal
contests. Therefore, when we hold contests we need go to remote places
like Lamma Is. and Shamchung. We treasure very much for these unique
discipline of powerless glider flying. Please join us now and
share this wonderful excitement!
